What do people think of the u21's beating Kerry on Saturday

Tough ask to beat Kerry. No manager appointed until a month ago. CB treating hurling bad again. It'll be a team just thrown together and probably wouldn't be anything near the "best 15" that we could select. I think a 15pts+ hiding is coming.

Any team with the kiltale contingent plus jack Fagan Sean Doyle and Charlie Bird should not be underestimated. It's very strange the late appointment of the management team and as a result preparation. It's up to the hurling contingent to get affairs in order so that when a team is entered that a planning and preparation strategy is developed almost immediately rather than an a afterthought

Not sure of the panel, but I know Jack Fagan and Shane Whitty aren't in the country so wont feature Saturday.

Think it is Ken McKenna over them - don't know anything about him. County Board had trouble filling the post.

Team for tomorrow is named on the main page. Looks like a very young team and it doesn't look anywhere near as strong as last year's team which had Toher, Damien Healy, Willie Mcgrath, Jack Fagan and Shane Witty. Can't see them beating Kerry who will surely have 3 or 4 of their seniors who win the Christy Ring

Well, all us prophets of doom have been proven wrong...

Hopefully they go on to win it outright. Mayo in the SF now. Don't want to be too cautious, we should be beating Mayo really.

Redman and Belt. Did them lads out there prove anything to you. Meath u21 hurlers are the only county team left competing in 2015. It's about time the likes of you start coping on and realise that football in the county has detiariated hugely and the hurling is only getting better. Àtha Mhì Àbu

lordofthecrack- First of all I am a hurling supporter first and football second. Was at game today and credit to the Meath players for staying in the game and they got they're rewards with late winner at the death. It's a great way to win a game. The draw has really opened up now and with a bit of support from clubs this team could win an All Ireland.

Lordofthecraic well said I totally agree bout time people got behind the hurling in meath and gave them the respect the have earned just need the county board to wake up and treat them equal to the footballers then they would have a better chance of the best hurlers in the county pushing to play for meath and wanting too . Well done yesterday lads keep up the good work

Philip O'Brien From Wolfe Tones took the job because nobody else wanted it, The county board will be hoping they lose to Mayo as they have given no help to the team what so ever. They played Saturday yet those lads had to go back and play football with their clubs Sunday. No respect there at all. If the footballers were out on Saturday they wouldn't be asked to play again in 24 hrs. Best of luck to the team hope they go all the way and show the county board up again.

Some lads had to play an hour and a half after the hurling with their junior squads

Was in Trim last Saturday and delighted with the result. I felt we were a little lucky as Kerry slightly were the slicker outfit and our goals came at perfect time. It's great to see fighting spirit from a Meath team however one disappointing aspect was that Meath during the warm up were all wearing their own gear before changing into the county colours for the match. For a team representing our county it looked disrespectful to the players. Kerry arrived late but we're all wearing county colours and it looked more professional

As I said no support from the county board. That's why they wore their own warm up gear.

I was on the U21 hurling panel years ago, and even then the thought of warm up gear for the U21 hurlers would have sent the county board into hysterical laughter. I'd be surprised if they even got fed.

The win over Kerry was a welcome boost to hurling in Meath. That Kerry team arrived as hot favorites to win the U21B title let alone beat Meath, who are now favs to win it.
The win was achieved without some of the top players at this level eg Jack Fagan, Shane Whitty etc. who are in U.S. Also missing players who have to stay away on club's insistence because they are equally good footballers. That issue should have been dealt with long ago. There are rules to deal with it.
Now in spite of the possible semi final date being known 22/8 Fixtures Comm set out a whole round of club c'ship games in direct competition with what is now a clash v Mayo at home venue.
This alone has 2 consequences 1. Spectators are divided Co hurlers v club game 2. Hurlers lose players because of club football commitment. It also shows lack of respect for hurling in county.
Lot of sensible comment and a lot of uninformed comment on this topic. Real problem in Meath is total disrespect for Hurling in the county but unfortunately hurling clubs accept that domination too easily and don't realize their voting power at meetings and convention.
We need to stop making excuses and blaming everyone else. Or perhaps we should change to Meath GFA (Gaelic Football Association)
Anyway any chance of bringing those lads back from USA and getting all those club barred players on board for the 22nd Aug semi v Mayo.
AFTER ALL IT IS MEATH'S CHANCE OF WINNING AN ALL IRELAND AND THAT MIGHT NOT COME AROUND AGAIN FOR SOME TIME.

If the lads have been in the USA for the summer wouldn't it be a bit unfair to just parachute them into the team ahead of others who have trained and played so far?
