Whilst tyrone are far from the tyrone of old, yesterday will take some getting over for meath. A total collapse and the players were visibly gutted walking of the pitch. TIt totally went pear shaped and once the momentum starting to swing against them with 15-20 minutes to go, westmeath looked like they would win. Very poor performance on the line as well with some very strange changes. And still allowing for the finish, ye had two goal opportunities at the end and why mickey newman did not put the ball over to young mcmahon is anyone's guess. The one worrying thing about the current meath is the lack of appetite for a battle, they seem to just wilt and have no stomach for it. If they can recover and get things sorted they can beat tyrone but if it comes down to a battle I am not sure they will just fold.

On the contrary, No pressure on Meath. In some respects the best possible draw.

Best possible draw alright because at least this team only has one more chance to bring shame to the county this year,, any remaining pride gone and we showed a real lack of class in the final moments yesterday,,,what does our keeper who had a shocker yesterday,, really expect people to say about him,,

I see it going two ways, first half Meath blitz Tyrone. Second half capitulation Tyrone win, mod says he needs another 5 years to get Meath right.

I don't it was a bad draw, all of the other teams would have been tough for Meath as well and playing in Navan was no walk in the park so why not Omagh. If there's even a shred of pride or fight left in this current crop they'll head up to Tyrone and give them a game and possibly get a result.

While Tyrone aren't as good as they used to be they will cause us plenty of problems as the one thing we can't defend is a running game straight at us and that's exactly what Tyrone are going to do. Also does anybody know if it was just cramp or a damaged muscle that happened to Stephen Bray at the end of the game yesterday

I try to back managers as much as possible royaldunne but it's very hard to back MOD at this stage. If the team were showing signs that things are coming right or that we're inching forward there would be an argument to keep him on. But sadly apart from a promising year in 2013 we've stalled and actually gone back so I can't see how he could reasonably think that he's going to get much more time at the helm.

I really don't want the players to hide behind that though, when we needed a leader on the field yesterday what we got was 15 rabbits in the headlights. As a Meath fan that's exceptionally depressing because we used to be the exact opposite, but the players have to take their substantial portion of the blame to.

I hate to be a harbinger of doom, but I can see us taking a tanking from Tyrone. MOD was going on about a lack of experience in our ranks. Does he not think Tyrone will expose that too? Part of a manager's remit has to be to motivate teams-even those whose players aren't as good individually as the opposition-to achieve great things and exceed expectations, especially inthe current football climate. I don't think MOD is the man to do that to be honest.

Was talking to a former player and he had this to say...

"We have the talent, but the systems are not in place to facilitate the talent"

He also feels the county board needs a shake up and he agrees with me that the level of coaching is awful in this county. But he is positive that we have the players..

Ziggy It is not too hard to hammer this team unfortunately. The last 2 matches and last weeks results confirmed beyond all doubt that football in Meath is currently in terminal decline .Sticking plaster solutions are out. We are now ambulance cases on the way for major surgery .Gerry Mc Entee is a good surgeon, and i would say he could do the job if Colm O Rourke drove the ambulance and helped generally.it would take a bit of time of course, and some old patients would not return, but those that do would not lack bottle.

I think fitness is a HUGE issue,we ran out of steam the exact same way against Kildare last year

I think it is very unlikely that we will get a result in Omagh as I feel this is probably the draw that Mickey Harte was hoping for, Tyrone are still smarting from '96 and will take great delight in ending our championship again. Looking at the match yesterday I think questions have to be asked about our fitness levels, a number of players seemed to be out on their feet in the second half, Kevin Reilly should never have started, when a ball was played to him under the Hogan Stand after about 5 minutes yesterday he was very slow in getting to it and ended up falling over the ball and conceding a sideline kick to Westmeath, I can understand him wanting to play but I blame MOD for selecting him. Andy Tormey seemed totally exhausted for 10 minutes before he was substituted and even Eamon Wallace had nothing left in his legs for the last 20 minutes of the match. This dramatic second half collapse has been evident in a number of matches this year and I do worry about our fitness levels. We have a major problem at centre back for many years now and I think MOD has messed up Keoghan by picking him at 6 as a couple of years ago he was one of the top corner backs in the country and his confidence is shattered now as he hasn't settled into the centre back role and we are nowhere closer to finding a solution at 6 !!Very rich to hear MOD refer to the chance at the end to tie the game before the last Westmeath goal that we passed up instead of admitting the real problem was again with our defence as it was against Wicklow

There's no doubt that our defence is suspect but the problem starts at both our midfield and half forward lines. They do not have the engines to cover the ground needed in the modern game. I am reluctant to berate any individual but young Rooney only moved between the two 45's yesterday and whilst he may catch the occasional great ball, defensively he is very poor and Flanagan isn't much better. Have a look at the work rate of the likes of Gallagher (Donegal) Mc Auley (Dublin) Moran (Kerry) and you will see that we are miles behind when compared to these guys. Similarly Tormey was destroyed by the Wicklow No. 5 the last day. You could have the best six backs in the county but if you haven't got your midfield getting into the 'D'' zone when the play breaks down then your backs are always going to look suspect. If fitness is an issue, which it would appear to be, then this can't be corrected at this late stage in the championship. MOD will have to devise a gameplan around our limitations in this area and if this means having both a sweeper and one of our midfields taking up residence in our own back line then so be it. On a final note I can't understand why Damien Carroll is not on that team, I understand he is moving well at training and for whatever reason MOD & co only thought he warranted a 2 min cameo appearance yesterday.

Ziggy Yes several players clearly out of steam .I simply cannot understand that at all. Surely that has to be taken as a given Fitness levels are up to scratch. No excuse for that accepted. I assume Tormey was injured because he was unable or unwilling to run when required several times.

Dark suit, bowler hat, brolly and sash all required for the 11th, flute band would come in handy as well. Oh, nearly forgot, a team with a game plan for 70mins, not 45mins as we've seen for the last couple of years.
