Rossies v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Gonna be a very difficult game for Meath, the Rossies are a better side,so we will need to play at our best here.We badly need Wallace to start, move Burke out of the full back line and need Rooney back.

True it will be difficult, all away games are for us it seems, however if we have our scoring boots on which we didnt last night then I give us every chance. The fact that we are still in a promotion spot, albeit on score difference, after this weekend should give our players a big boost in confidence. As I said in another post our destiny is in our own hands and the objective is clear, a win next Sunday puts us in a good position and I would not be suprised if Laois got something from there trip to Galway which would also be significant but our focus has to be on our own game and performance. If we create as many chances as we did last night and up our conversion rate then we have every chance plus we must have our defence in order, Roscommon kicked 24 points today whcih is a huge score at any time of year so good defending and winning primary possesion at midfield will be keys onjectives next Sunday.

Lets hope we get a result that's as much of a pleasant suprise as the trip to Donegal last season.

Meath 5-48 scored 2-48 conceded in games against galway, laois, westmeath, kildare
Roscommon 2-66scored 5-54 conceded in games against cavan, down, kildare, laois
I fail to see how we keep getting refered to as playing defensive puke football Im begining to think RD has only ever watched his telly at games and seen us against Mayo when we had a plan that nearly created the shock of the championship maybe he should get out more because what we did to mayo is Meaths only chance against dublin this year because if ye go toe to toe theyll eat ye

Ziggy first off Roscommon are not a better side than us, don't know how you could come to that conclusion, if we are going anywhere we should be disposing of them .

Zig that's not a point of view I would agree with. I'd say we have the better players but they have the better manager. But then so has carlow and london

This was the team last year vs. Donegal - quite an attacking one which is strange, but it worked on the day.

Meath: Paddy O'Rourke; Donal Keoghan, Kevin O'Reilly, Mickey Burke; Sean Curran, Bryan Menton, Eoghan Harrington; Andrew Tormey (0-02), Shane O'Rourke (0-01); Donnacha Tobin, Damien Carroll (0-01), Brian McMahon (0-01); Dalton McDonagh (0-01), Stephen Bray, Michael Newman (1-04, 0-02f).

Subs: Graham O'Reilly (0-01) for Bray, Padraic Harnan for Tobin (both half-time), Seamus Kenny for Curran (45 mins), Eamon Wallace (0-01) for McMahon (53).

What's the prognosis on Tormey and Menton's injuries? Really can't afford to lose either.

It looked like Tormey had a hamstring injury,if so he is out.Not too sure about Menton,he did an awful lot of running and was filling in holes the last day.

Team I would go with.

POR
Keoghan
McGill
Power
Burke
Menton
Judge
Rooney (hopefully fit)
Flanagan
Reilly
Harnan
Wallace
Sean Tobin
Bray
Newman

have a feeling Tormey won't make it.

Tormey will be out for at least 3 to 4 weeks with a hamstring. Don't think Rooney will be fit either. If he doesn't play for u21's during the week he wont be playing for the seniors at the weekend. Gillespie must be nearly ready to play. I was surprised he wasn't brought in on Saturday when Menton was clearly injured for the last 15 to 20 minutes.

Yes I'd agree there, if Rooney not fit then Gillespie could be straight back in, we need to go for this game and his experience could be vital

ziggy320001 and Richieq is there a reason Donnacha Tobin isn't in your teams? IMO I think he has done well so far.

Spot on but RD has agenda to troll and best to ignore.

Lads,
Not sure what's going on with Gillespie but if they are not prepared to throw him for 15 mins against Laois when we were being cleaned out in midfield the they're highly unlikely to start him against Roscommon.

Imo he has been very poor and tends to hide in games.
