HOPES for new approach to football in 2015

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Like a lot of people i am HOPING for a big improvement for 2015... I wrote to Santa ,and asked for a Meath PANEL that will be fully prepared fit, determined, pride in wearing the jersey of a county with a strong tradition of battling till the final whistle. HOPING that we will have learned from all this years short comings.HOPING that we dont bow the knee to Dublin before the game even starts....Heres HOPING MEATH ABU

And meet an even more determined Dublin team after their collapse during the summer... but hopefully we can progress by smashing up the back door!

We are not on the same planet as Dublin. For a start we need a year or two to get the team physically up there

it has been proven this Dublin team are beatable. Ask Jimm mc Guinness ! Mental approach won it for Donegal ! Mental approach on the day can go a long way for us.We are NOT beaten before we start! Ask Sean Boylan ! He won matches we should never have won! Why? Because we refused to be beaten on the day! Spirit and sheer determination together with teamwork, and shrewd game planning when it mattered won games for us.
2015 has to deliver traditional Meath Values as above. Without that we remain as we are in the top 12 or so ,and maybe even start believing that remaining in Division 2 is progress
No Surrender! NO excuses ! With the correct preparation, and mental approach we could beat ANY team this coming year.Forget 2014 ,it was a very poor year.
This poster refuses to accept we have to stay as we are,and wait. Wait for what? What was missing was proper preparation. The dogs in the street know that!
MOD knows there is a big job of work to be done. I assume he would have departed the scene by now if he thought he could not remedy matters and deliver on this his 3rd year. PROPER PREPARATION and we will be as good as any team this coming year...Without it let us forget about football once and for all .NO EXCUSES ACCEPTED FOR LACK OF PREPARATION....MEATH ABU !!

I'm a hopeful supporter for this meath team. I really think they have good potential for 2015. The best we could hope for in the league is a mid table finish considering the teams we will be up against. For the Leinster championship, let's face it we are not up to dublins standards yet so if we could just improve on last years result that would be quite satisfying. If we can get a handy draw in the back door then you never know. But to be honest I can see us by the quarters if we even get that far. So ino this isn't the year many have planned but I really believe with the right aditude and preparation we could achieve this, and I would be delighted with this for 2k15.

pat custard We cannot say "we are not up to Dublin standards yet". If you go on 2014 we are not on their planet agreed. But that is 2014,now history. We did not have a prepared team either physically or mentally. We have to give credit to MOD and CB and all concerned, and believe that 2014 will N

Pat custard We cannot say " we are not up to Dublin standard yet " If you take 2014 as a measurement then we are not on their planet..agreed. You have to believe that we will never see a Meath team so poorly prepared either physically or mentally again. You have to forget 2014 ,as we did not have a typical Meath team at all. You have to believe that MOD and CB and all concerned accept 2014 was a failure attitude wise ,preparation wise, etc etc. No we are a proud football county who may have lost our way,but ALL concerned are going to prove that 2015 is a different ball game .We will see properly prepared panel who will compete and deliver to their full potential on any given day. We will deal with the inevitable setbacks just like any other team will when they arrive. We will not surrender to any other team now or at any other time. We will not offer half baked excuses like " we are better than 2014",and maybe we might make the quarters with a bit of luck.Yes i am expecting massive changes in attitude. I

As i was saying 2014 will NEVER be repeated.. That was a false reading for Meath football. No 2015 is back to traditional Meath attitude and approach i.e. we CAN win and no half baked excuses. Why should we believe otherwise?

Our first game in the league will tell us how our league campaign will unfold in my opinion. If we were to lose to Galway away we will finish mid table or just miss out on promotion. But if can go down to salthill and put in a performance and get toe points I genuinely believe we will win that Division. We have Cavan at home, Kildare at home and I think Westmeath at home also We must must win all three of those games to have any chance at all. Our hardest two games, been though all of the fixtures are hard, are Roscommon and Down away. I tell you if we come through this league with promotion we will be on a role come championship and you never now something good might come yet. This is Mick O'Dowds biggest year as Meath manager and it is probably a last shot at something big for the likes of Stephen Bray, David Bray, Jamie Queeney and Mickey Burke. I know they are training like dogs at the minute and have been for the past 2 months and nobody wants to win for Meath more than those lads. An Mhi Abu

Yes Dublin are beatable, but Donegal are way ahead of us in the physical stakes.Remember they won the All-Ireland recently. We need to built and need time to do that.

Nobull, for a man with a name like that, you certainly dont live up to it.

You just repeat the same old stuff over and over. Like look at this thread, about 50% of it is just you posting paragraph after paragraph of the same meaningless waffle about belief and attitude and will to win, sprinkling it with overemphasised clichés. It offers nothing constructive, and if you removed references to Boylan/Meath and stuck in O'Mahony/Galway or Paisley/Liverpool it would look just the same as anyone's rant about any team.

To be honest I would not compare how club teams do in relation to county teams.

For example are Offaly a better team than Meath? Club teams in Meath have never being successful,it was very rare in the Boylan years even.Part of the reason is that different teams pretty much win it every year.Plus there are an awful lot of good footballers in Meath who don't even play at Senior level.

Castle Brave Good on you ! That is what we want a bit of aggression ! Maybe you might find a way to pass that on to some of the players ! However, i note you do not offer anything constructive in your posts, but just more reactionary goulash on a repetitive basis..
On "mature reflection" maybe people like me should join your play safe club. In that club i can convince myself to accept rubbish standards from this team. I can always find some excuse to accept defeat! I do not have to expect anything better than 2014! Maybe you have a point, prepare for failure now. At least that way i wont be disappointed.
No ,on even more "mature reflection" i will stick to my guns.I expect a dramatic improvement in attitude, and whatever that brings i will be happy with! Meath ABU !!

Amen.
But all of this stems from management, and if I am to be honest I don't think they have it in them.
Jimmy could take donegal from humiliation to all ire semi in one year and win it the next. And anyone who thinks they miles better than us is wrong they are not. It was cause of jimmy end of story.
