Development of Dunganny

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I see a developer from Leitrim got the dunganny contract. This is disgraceful. The amount of sponsership that Meath gaa and its clubs seek off local developers, and then they go and give it to someone in a different province. Just cant believe it.

What a load of crap, who the hell cares where the bloody developer is from once they're good enough to do the job, talk about complaining just for the sake of it!

Have to agree that its a pretty ridiculous thread. The development was put out tender, and the best tender was picked. Where's the problem? I could understand the complaint if a development company was brought in from abroad to do the work, but so long as an Irish company is doing the work then I don't see an issue. What would you have preferred- to spend more of the County Boards slim resources just to make sure a Meath developer got it? I would prefer that the job should go to the most competitive tender, and spend the money left over on Pairc Tailteann.

Plenty of local developers have benefitted from GAA clubs in Meath in terms of land deals & swaps, that's been a two way street, it's the job of our Infrastructure Committee to deliver the best improvements at the best price, a man from Leitrim got it and fair play to him his tender was obviously the best and given the prudence in which this current County Board has shown in rectifying our previously poor finances I have no doubt that this developer was the best tender. I look forward to seeing the completed project and have no issue about the geographical origins of the developer.

Don't think it matters one bit where the developer is from, once its a good job.

Are we finally getting our act together? In terms of facilities and underage structures being put in place?

Would love to see a bit of money going to the dressing rooms in pairc taileann. Haven't been touched since the 80's by the looks of them.

We'd all love to see PT being done up and not the dressing rooms but Dunganny was prioritised, at least this county boards seems committed to progress as much as is financially possible and to he fair them they took over from a county board who seemed to be stuck hopelessly in the past.

Hey, Does anybody know what is in the Meath center of excellence building at Dunganny? other than the dressing rooms and gym. Is there physio treatment rooms? indoor mini pitch? hurling wall? Looked around online but could not find anything in regards to the facilities available within the building. Thanks

Hurling wall?? Are you mad, we're talking about the Meath Countyboard here. They wouldn't do something so obvious and promotional like putting up a Hurling wall for the good of Meath Hurling. Maybe they'll set up a Committee with Gerry McEntee as Chairman to raise money for a Hurling Wall!!
