We have to qualify for a Leinster Final before thinking about them. No point thinking ahead to that stage before we hopefully qualify for a provincial final.

Realistically , As of now,on all known form this year we are inferior in many ways. We need a dramatic improvement in passing, much more aggression in tackling [legally]Massive improvement in alertness and man marking We have to be wide awake to short kick outs and quick frees from Dublin
We may talk about a couple of positions up for grabs on the team, but really approach and attitude with total commitment on the day is vital
Management have a major role here to get this right.Wonder would people consider having Sean Boylan give an input to the team at this point. No reflection on MOD ,But Sean has worked near miracles before, and he has been there remember 1996?
Meath can NEVER be written off, even now! We know to win Leinster this year is a tall order...one game at a time, and fully fit physically and mentally we can maybe surprise everybody. We are Meath !We don't surrender! We like being underdogs ,especially to Dublin, who we now know are indeed a very good team. Here is hoping we get the chance to surprise them !!

No Chance. Dublin on a different level than Meath. Dublins u21 team would beat most senior teams in the country. Meath dont have the players that are good enough to beat them. the panel dublin have at the moment is just unreal. their subs would be automatic starters on any other county team. on our day meath could give them a fright but that would be about it. Meath has a lot of work to do to get to that level.

Dublin to win Leinstr this year will likely have to beat Laois then Wexford and in the final Kildare/Meath/Louth/Westmeath.

I see one of those teams catching dublin sleeping on the day and running them close but this losing. Don't see us winning but would be happy to make the final and then try and make a quarter final we could win.

Meath can have 2 different approaches to the position we find ourselves in now. 1...just accept defeat now...suspend training now.....accept we cannot beat Dublin ...in simple surrender now!!!!
2. Relish the challenge posed this year in playing against a very good maybe, even great Dublin team. Believe its all down to what can happen on the day...Believe in ourselves and in our potential to be a typical battling Meath team again...Believe that if every player plays to their full potential and we get a good degree of luck....and Dublin not at full throttle..and believe they just have to turn up on the day....and....and..then who knows?
Most importantly how rising to this challenge for this developing Meath team can give us a reliable measurement of our progress so far
We should accept that success for this year for our team is to see a major improvement in our approach and attitude, and hopefully this may bring silverware sooner rather than later...I will not totally rule out this year to read that Meath have risen from the dead AGAIN ! They delivered a major surprise against all the odds..Best of luck lads in preparing for a massive task IF we get a chance to play Dublin.
Well done to the dubs in developing a great squad...it took a few years...When you play Meath as no hopers you are playing a high risk game.Unfortunately ye have learned that lesson already, but maybe you may not remember..I do!

Highly unlikely. But sure we will give it one hell of a try if we get to meet them.

Thing is,can they be stopped by anyone?,never mind us! See if we played them and it was close, what could we do from the bench in the last 20mins or so,compared to them.. We could be on the way back, problem is,that this could be the best Dublin team ever...

I'm genuinely more worried about not making a Leinster final this year than meeting Dublin in one, laws of averages suggest we may not make another final but we'll see how things pan out, it's very early days yet. If we do get to a Leinster final and we're playing Dublin then why not go out with a bit of confidence, yes Dublin are a great team no question but it's a final, believe and you never know.

Look at what Wigan done to a far superior Man City in last years FA cup final or Chelsea to a superior Munich team in 2012 or the hopeless Giants to the 18-0 Patriots in 08, the only guarantee in sport is that nothing is guaranteed!

Finals are a different animal, if you don't believe you can go out and win then you aren't worthy of your place, but anyway still a lot of football to be played yet, if we're still in Leinster come july then we can talk properly.

Thing is we know Dublin are a very good team, and may go to prove they are a great team. They will earn the honour of being a great team when their record of titles won reflects that. Kerry were a great team because they won 4 in a row ,and almost five
So lets not focus on Dublin. Concentrate on our team, and how we can maximise our full potential. We know we are down the pecking order now.We know the size of the task ahead. Meath teams of the past loved a challenge...We even won matches in the past when we played better teams...In 1991 we should not have even got a draw in 3 of the 4 matches. We should not have won the 4th either. Only a Meath team under a great manager could have done that!
We won because we refused to surrender..never say die attitude. The most unlikely player on the field Kevin Foley got the goal that mattered. Who would have forecast that? I will always remember sitting beside a seasoned Dublin supporter when Beggy got the winning point, and well remember his quote to several dubs " What do you have to do to beat those f.....s, they would come out of the grave to beat us..Whats new? Yes i hate them, but lord by god they are always great battlers. We SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER" end of quote. Now wasn,t he a wise man??

People are raving about Dublin following the win against Derry, and rightly so. Their performance earned it. But, their defence is weak and if a team can manage to keep the pressure on their backs they can make Dublin look ordinary and over-rated, ala Cork in the first half of the semi-final. Dublin thrive on primary possession and making sure their forwards see as much of the ball as possible. Cluxton and McAuley are the stand-out players of 1-9. Their forwards are very dangerous, to a man. To beat Dublin in 2014, you'll need more than blood and guts, you'll need to deny their forwards the chance to destroy us. But it is possible, of course it's possible. It's not like Meath to think otherwise either.

Two teams can beat Dublin. Meath or Kerry.

Lets worry about Carlow & Kildare before we even think of the Dubs. Games under the belt will be great for our team. A close hard game against Kildare (Presuming we beat Carlow) will bring us on no end and will if we win give us some confidence going into a 3rd Final in a row.

Yes we can beat Dublin. We will have to get tactics right and turn each ball into a 50/50 contest. We have better players. Dublin thrive on space and speed. Meath will win 3-4 points

"We have better players"
I have never seen such a ridiculous statement in all my life. You are deluded.

While i'm not worried about Carlow, I think we should focus on that match first. Too many people are also taking (most likely) Kildare for granted aswell. While they arent the ultra consistant machine we couldnt beat for love nor money 3/4 years ago, they still wont roll over and get easily beaten. I know they got relegated in the league, but along the way they put in some good performances and only lost by a point to Cork and Tyrone.

Carlow, current injury list etc aside...no.

We did put in a fine performance last year, and were winning in the first half due to neutralising Cluxtons wing kickouts.

However:
> We didnt 'kick on' in the second half of that match, due in my opinion to inferior fitness, superior Dub fitness. or both
> Cluxton learnt from that, notice he varies the kickouts now
> The whole dub panel has improved

Regardless - show me ANY Meathperson not upping their game against those skyblue jersies! Mhí abú
