Meath v Louth

Just for the record I'm not writing the players off, But losing to Kildare in the way we did made us loose some belief. I think two wins in Leinster will pump back the confidence and then we should be ready for another crack at Kildare.

Two 1pt defeats in a row completely demoralised this Meath team no doubt about it but fact of the matter is those were the sort of games we used to get last gasp winners in not last minute heartache and it's nothing more than a sign of the sliding standard of Meath football. Neither the talent nor the players are really there at the minute and we need to consider that before we start calling for managers heads every second season, however getting relegated to division 3 would be unforgivable in my opinion.

I know we often played in the old division 2b before it was turned back into a proper league structure but that was different, you could only get relegated once, now I don't care if this sounds arrogant or not but we're above division 3 and the players need to acknowledge that aswell. I don't ever want them to accept that Meath football is only worthy of the third division because it is an embarrassment to our tradition, to our legends of old and it breeds nothing but failure into the younger generations who want to play for Meath someday.

This game against Louth on sunday is of vital importance to the way Meath football progresses over the next few years and a loss would be disastrous for us and mark my words, Louth are more than capable of sending us down. At this stage I'm just hoping that our lads can pull a win out of the bag and keep our status intact but either way the year has been a failure so far and I wouldn't dare put money on us staying up at this point.

......................................................................................................

The keyboard warriors were blaming the defence system, players, mangers and the underage system it might be all 30% true....but the kildare problem is about 70% right,it was always about kildare.....usually what happens to a boxer when he gets defeated by the same opponent so many times he losses belief and retires,(If its a american boxer he will retire and bring out a rap song) you might just say that the meath team retired after the kildare game, but the great thing about this is its not boxing its football a team effort not one boxer singing his own rap song, the 2 week rest will be a big thing for this meath team, they have a new focus and thats avoiding relegation, never mind the keyboard warriors or the bar stool prophets but we are actually closer to kildare than we are to division 3 and i dont mean by travel or drop!

If kildare win and get promotion i will make a nice few euro,i put a few euro on them after they lost there first two games to get promotion .....i am not a betting man but i know a good deal when i see one,the same day that i put money on kildare to win promotion i put money on meath to get to a leinster!

ill give my two cents and say banty is not all to blame it is the players that should be giving 100% . rightly he should of motivated meath after the kildare loss because it was a great game. instead yous loss to galway. you dont see a kildare player coming out after the tyrone and monaghan losses and saying that it knocked us no instead mc geeney got them up on the go and started galloping again.and for their reward the prospect on sunday. i just dont see banty doing anything significant with meath thats not saying he wont i suppose every manager needs time ( and spare me the ''sure what did mc geeney do thats significant'' as i said managers need time and hopefully this is the year for silverware.
why the long face great minds think a like with the exception that meath are closer to kildare i actually think that kildare are closer to dublin and meath are that bit behind them both (not a dig just been honest) but..i did like yourself put a few euro on the same for kildare after the losses.:D but i also put a few quid on them for leinster ;)
i will look forward to kildare v meath in the summer if we get past offaly and meath by wicklow and carlow.

You are right about kildare after the 2 losses they dusted them selfs down and got back on the horse,i admire kildare under kieran mcgeeney,he has turned a normal footballer into a very hard working consistent footballer,i think kieran mcgeeney is a top class manager and yet he does nothing special only get the best out of players, will it be enough to beat dublin?

And on the other hand yes meath did take the kildare game bad,to be honest i think what the manager should have done was after the kildare game was kept them in the dressing room for 60 minutes and give them the hair dyer treatment instead of telling them they did well!

There's 2 kinds footballers in this world one who needs arm around and the other who need a good kick up the Hole!

Lads, I hate having to say this but really I can't see Louth getting anything from tomorrows game.

Meath have been the dominant force between these two neighbouring counties for as long as I can remember and regrettably from my perspective I cant see that changing tomorrow.

It would be seen as the greatest disaster since the sinking of the Titanic (yes I know people said the Titanic was unsinkable) if Meath were to lose to Louth, therefore it wont happen and furthermore Meath will win very comfortably.

I would like to congratulate Meath on their win in advance tomorrow because I certainly won't have the stomach to do so tomorrow or any time afterwards.

Well done to Banty and Meath, you did what you had to do when the pressure was really on you, as for Louth, well we'll just have to live in hope as always.

Meath 2-14 0-10 Louth

Don't think there's an issue there, they were giving the training session on Thursday evening and gg and banty seemed to be getting along.

I'd include damian carroll in starting 15. We need something different he has pace, mobility and I believe he would be a asset tomorrow.

Anyway. C,MON THE ROYAL.
