Replying To brian:  "McGill - Dan O'Neill
Power - Brian Conlan
Cian O'Brien - Ronan Jnes
Eamonn Wallace - James McEntee
Bryan McMahon - Daire Rowe or David McLoghlin

Now obviously all those players are within or on the fringes of the panel and until such time as Andy puts out a championship team we can't say who or who shouldn't be involved. But could we ever stop the constant Ratoath bashing and get behind the team. Its beyond tiresome and lazy from people. It'll not be long before we get the other lazy comment of not enough north meath players which is another BS excuse. I'm from North meath originally and whilst Kells have done well in recent years they've no standout players banging down the doors for inclusion."
people should be clever enough to understand that some teams have alot of good club footballers and work well within a team, whereas other teams can have a few county level players but with huge gaps in quality within those teams.
just because a team does well in the championship does not mean they should have 3/4/5 players in the county setup. like-wise if a a junior side has 2/3 players good enough to play county then that should not be a barrier. a manager should pick what he feels are the best players regardless of who they play for.you have to ignore that as a county manager. i am sure o'dowd did that and so is andy.

Replying To Barney123:  "That was the one thing that wreck my head when MOD was is charge and I'm not even from Ratoath. 4 or 5 of them could be starting for Meath but people would still criticise him for having so many Ratoath lads, what can he do if so many talented players come from the one club, "LIsten I know your a good player but the quota of players from your club has already been reached". Then you would ask them well who would you pick instead of them, they would reply with some nonsense or "well I'm not in charge of the team, thats what the management should be looking for.

Even at the start of the year when we weren't doing so well people were asking why there was only one player from the county champions on the panel. 2 were asked and one was with the u21s, so what do people want, just bring in some lad from Stown just so we can say we have a few players from the county champions. It is absolute nonsense."
absolutely, plus nash went to away and o'rourke cannot train at that level.

Replying To royaldunne:  "I don't think anyone would disagree that the rathoath players are there on merit, but I also think the fact that mod played j Wallace in a Leinster final at 18 and that experience destroyed him is probably what was wrong, he still isn't a starter and while he has improved that was plainly wrong. Also e Wallace hasn't improved since stand out year 1, I wouldn't say there will be 5 rathoath players on Meath team when we chasing a big game this year . But I will say this clearly if there is 15 players from rathoath or wherever on Meath team, once they best we have and perform and win for Meath I couldn't give a monkeys behind."
personally i would have all those ratoath players on the panel..

Anybody fancy a half back line of ford, conlon, and Harnan next year?

I never had any complaints about the players MOD picked. Apart from the issue with Alan ford I think he generally had the best players on the panel.

Generally no complaints about Andy-- but bringing Joe into the panel is strange and I'm not sold on toher at midfield.

Really impressed with progress through the league...if we can build the same way through the championship we could be in for a good summer. The loss of ford is massive.

Most of Ratoath lads well worth their place. McMahon, E Wallace and McGill would be nailed on starters on my team. Joey Wallace good off the bench. But I see nothing from Cian O'Brien. Power had a good game against Galway but I still have no faith in him at 6. I think he'll play there this year because Conlon doesn't have the experience but next year I think the shirt is Conlons

I reckon that Conlon still has to convince AndymcEntee a bit more before he is handed a starting jersey. McEntee obviously attended all of the U-21 matches, and while Conlon was decent, his performances didn't scream "Senior Team". McEntee had plenty of opportunity to play him in the last few rounds of the league, but didn't do so. I think we will see him given plenty of opportunities in challenge matches to show what he can do, but unless he really stands out, I would be surprised to see him start in the championship. I'm not saying that is right. Personally I would throw him in at the deep end at No.6 - I would just be surprised in McEntee shares my opinion/

I can't see many changes from the team that finished league if I am honest, I expect jones may come in, maybe Newman. But id say that's it.

2-5 to 1-5 down at half time. Not playing well to be honest but hard to judge a challenge match

RD, something like this

POR
DK
CmcG
MB
DT
PH
SMcE
BM
RJ
JMcE
COS
EW
BMcM
MN
DL

Took Meath 15-20 mins to get a score first half. Great run by COS to set up the goal. We are still easy to run at and through!

Newman off at half time. ROC did well when he came on. Good few subs used in the second half.

Meath were a few points up when I was leaving to get out of a packed car park!

Nice grounds and a lovely evening for a match.

Looks like we were beaten by what must have been a late goal.

Last kick. Ref blew up as kickout was taken.
All our own doing after getting in front we went ultra defensive with 10 to goal and led them on to us.

Good to hear you had a nice evening. Pity I couldn't make it. No Reilly for 2 games running? Injured? Hopefully not

Newman on the frees but missed a handy one, was taken off at half time. Lenihan scored 1-5 I think. Menton very good, Jones pretty good. Keoghan, Tobin and McGill good. O'Coilean off the bench. Can't figure out how we lost tbh
