So lads is that it, are we going to stand by and accept the mediocrity that has prevailed this year . Meath U21s and Meath Minors underperforming in the last ever championships at these age groups . Meath_True (Meath) - Posts: 285 - 10/05/2017 22:49:33 1985850 Link 0 |
Was at all 3 of the championship games, 2 for minors and 1 for the 21s. Don't know have I ever seen teams underperform and underachieve so much. Bad conditions on the night (same for both teams obvs) as well as sloppy mistakes and a sending off cost the 21s badly. I feel we were capable of playing better football so the poor weather affected us more imo. Anyway, that's besides the point. On paper, this was a very good group of players but therein lies the problem; "on paper". Why can't we produce on the big days? Has happened to the seniors all too often in previous years as well. I feel there's a lack of mental edge to Meath teams along with an inability to finish teams off that are on the ropes. Similar was case with the minors. A superb first half against Dublin but a no show in the second ultimately proved to be our undoing. Don't think we were ever going to win that in et. Maybe the Dublin loss was still on the minds when we took on Laois because we never hit the same heights at all. Really disorganised and panicky display. Genuinely don't think Coyle could put his finger on it either. Again, this team had great potential and there was plenty of depth available off the bench too. So why is this happening? Mind boggling to say the least MarkMyWords (Meath) - Posts: 498 - 11/05/2017 10:05:59 1985888 Link 0 |

Under 17's have championship tomorrow against Dublin. Good that they get a championship because they miss out on minor next year. We could badly do with a lift at underage with our minors and 21's going a combined 0-3 in championship this year. 4 starters from this years minors is a good starting point with a few more extended minor panel members and some good under 16's. Have no idea what the Dubs will be like but hopefully be a good game LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 1458 - 27/06/2017 20:49:01 2006508 Link 9 |

u17's did well tonight. controlled the game from start to finish. 1-15 - 1-10 flattered dublin. thing that impressed me about meath was their size and mobility for players so young. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 28/06/2017 21:22:56 2007127 Link 4 |

The 4 lads that started minor were excellent. Walsh, Morris, Byrne and Ryan. Cian McBrien and Paddy Mathews also very good. While we did dominate the game Dublin missed a serious ammount of frees. Hopefully the draw it's ok for the next round
