Duleek Bellewstown and St Marys players with the Anthony Doonan Cup at Donore
St. Mary's GFC and Duleek Bellewstown GFC played out an absolute classic, to help honour the memory of Anthony (Bevis) Doonan.
With several generations and members of the Doonan Family present, along with a huge support from each club, they witnessed a humdinger of a game.
Duleek Bellewstown seemed to got into a comfortable lead in the first half, only for The Mary's to peg it back and bring it all square with 3 minutes to play, and then hit 2 points from distance to win it.
The Cup goes to The Mary's this year, (last time it was Duleek Bellewstown GFC). But what really won tonight was the memory of Anthony, and the fondness of how he is remembered by all present.
Thanks to all who made this happen, the two Clubs and in particular the Doonan Family.
€1600 was raised for SOSAD on the night, and both clubs look forward with eager anticipation to next year's match.
