St Michaels keeper Darren O'Connell

The group games are over and we are now down to the knockout stages.

Simonstown and Ratoath maintained their 100% record in the SFCr. Last year's finalists Dunderry exited the race for the Mattie McDonnell Cup while the Junior championship is down to the last four. We pick our Best XV from last weekend.

Darren O'Connell (St Michaels): Kept a clean sheet and made numerous clearances especially in the closing ten minutes as St Michaels withstood a late Dunderry challenge to book their place in the last eight of the IFC.

Brian O'Connor (Ratoath): With diligent defending the captain lead by example as Ratoath maintained their 100% winning record with five points to spare over neighbours Dunboyne at headquarters.

Conor McGill (Ratoath): A pivotal figure in defence who pushed forward when the opportunity arose. The county man also got on the scoreboard as Ratoath claimed top spot in Group C.

Stephen Sheppard (Wolfe Tones): Brilliant in his defensive duties and showed loads of energy going forward as Wolfe Tones secured their place in the knockout stages with a two goal win over Summerhill at Simonstown.

Jack Condra (Nobber): Another strong defensive display from the corner back and he kicked the score of the game just before the break as Nobber earned a draw with Oldcastle to advance to the knockout stages of the IFC.

Cormac McGuinness (Navan O'Mahonys): Started with Number 11 on his back but reverted to a sweeper role to great effect as O'Mahonys saw off Seneschalstown and qualify for the knockout stages at Pairc Tailteann.

Christy Cosgrove (Na Fianna): Another to act as an effective sweeper. Started at full forward but did all his good work in defence as Na Fianna progressed to the knockout stages with a four point win over St Pats at windy Walterstown.

Alan Douglas (Trim): Showed a fantastic work rate and four excellent points as Trim held on to beat Ballinlough and progress to the quarter finals of the Intermediate at a windy Pairc Tailteann.

Dermot McGee (Carnaross): The best man on the field as Carnaross booked their place in the JFC semi-finals. The midfielder chipped in with five points in that 0-14 to 0-8 win over Drumconrath at Pairc Tailteann.

Dylan Regan (Navan O'Mahonys): A bundle of badly needed energy on the wing for the 'Hoops'. Great work rate on and off the ball and hit 2-1 in that crucial win over Seneschalstown at Pairc Tailteann.

Seamus Mattimoe (Gaeil Colmcille): On fire as Gaeil Colmcille marched to the last eight. Mattimoe top scored with eight points as Rathkenny were put to the sword at Meath Hill.

Eamon Wallace (Ratoath): Fast becoming one of the best player on the senior club championship stage this year. Ran the show again for Ratoath and hit four points in that top of the table win over Dunboyne at Pairc Tailteann.

David McLoughlin (Moynalvey): Came in to the game as a second half substitute and scored 2-5 inside twenty minutes as Moynalvey defeated St Colmcilles at Skryne.

Kevin Lanigan (Donaghmore Ashbourne): One of the performances from the weekend. Scored a massive 5-1 as the Moores totally outplayed Duleek Bellewstown at Donore.

Cathal O'Dwyer (Dunshaughlin): In fine form as Dunshaughlin avoided the relegation play offs. The corner forward hit 1-7 as Skryne were defeated 2-14 to 1-11 at a windswept Lomans Park Trim.
