Shane McCormack gains possession for St. Michaels against Clann Na nGael

There were scores galore in the second half of this encounter in Carlanstown on Monday evening, but it was Clann na nGael who came out on top with a five point victory.                                                                                                                    

St. Michaels went into an early lead following points from Ben Farrell (2) and Ben Reilly (0-1) to lead by three after 12 minutes, the visitors pulled one back but Farrell and Shane McCormack added one apiece to lead by 0-4 to 0-1 after 23 minutes. St. Michaels parked their bus at that point and allowed Clann na nGael to waken from their slumber and fire home four unanswered points to level the match at 0-5 apiece at the break.

Shane McCormack opened the second half with a point on 34 minutes, the visitors levelled five minutes later and they then opened the floodgates with a score a minute for the next 9 minutes, two of which were goals. Barry McBrearty pulled a goal back for St. Michaels which was quickly followed by points from Sam Briody and Lee Morris, however the visitors rattled the net for the third time with eight minutes left on the clock. McCormack sent a powerful shot to the back of the net two minutes later with Ben Farrell and Daithi O'Reilly following up with a point apiece, however Clann na nGael held on and fired over two further points for a deserved victory.
