Jack Walsh - Navan O'Mahonys

Navan O'Mahonys maintained their bid to regain senior status at Trim on Tuesday night when outscoring Kildalkey.

O'Mahonys ...... 2-13
Kildalkey ......... 0-8

Kildalkey's second string side were on the cusp of causing an upset when trailing by 0-7 to 0-9 after 54 minutes.

Backed by the breeze coming from the town end, O'Mahonys outscored Kildalkey by 2-4 to 0-1 thereafter.

O'Mahonys were hindered by a tally of 20 wides as against six for Kildalkey.

Paddy Skehan's accuracy from frees was again a feature of O'Mahonys' win. He landed his eighth free before Barry McEvoy poached the opening goal in the 59th minute.

Ross Flynn (free) closed Kildalkey's account before Mikey Kelly's brilliant goal with a first time pull enhanced the winning margin. Skehan's sole point from play closed the scoring.

On a good evening for hurling on a excellent surface, a competitive opening half yielded just six scores. It finished 0-3-each.

From the resumption, the scoring rate improved. Entering the final quarter, O'Mahonys moved 0-8 to 0-4 clear following an excellent Richie Hogan score.

Kildalkey rallied with three of the next four scores. Padraig Keogh - who was sent off before the end - completed the sequence.

That was as good as it got for Kildalkey as O'Mahonys found their bearings and claimed the points.
