FL Div 2: Second win for Curraha

April 24, 2017

Conor Moriarty - St Vincent's/Curraha

Curraha 0-15 Dunderry 0-07

Curraha gained their second win of this years Division 2 AFL campaign with a convincing win over Dunderry.

The home team started brightly and had four points on the board (Conor Moriarty 3 and Brian Murphy 1) before Dunderry got off the mark. Both teams had numerous chances of further scores but some decision making went against both teams. Phelim Dowling was very unlucky not to raise a green flag mid way through the first half only for a solid save from David Jennings. Another Moriarty free gave Curraha a four point lead but a strong finish for Dunderry saw them reduce the deficit to two at the break.

Like the opening half Curraha started the brighter and had three points on the board inside the first ten minutes with Dowling, Moriarty and Gavin Coyle extending the lead. Stephen Coogan responded with two points for the away side to make it a three point game but when Gavin Coyle was fouled inside the square Curraha looked destined for victory. However David Jennings had different plans and pulled off a fantastic save from Moriarty. This gave Dunderry a lift but Curraha dug deeper and rattled off six unanswered scores thanks to Evan McGovern, Neil Shortall, Seamus Hogan (2), Murphy and Moriarty.
