March 29, 2017

The Kilbride Under 16 squad

Kilbride 3-18 to Slane/St Marys  2-7

Kilbride U16 completed a double at Donore over Slane / St Marys after their U19s won at the same venue just 10 days ago. This was as complete a performance as you will see with great defensive and attacking movement on display from the Kilbride outfit.

Kilbride went in at halftime with 1-12 to 0-4 point lead. The home team started well and took an early lead, but Kilbride after some early missed opportunities slowly eased into the game with two early well taken points from Josh Harford, one from James Gavin and two excellent scores from distance from Cian Harford.

The Slane St Marys outfit kept pressing but met a defensive wall with the Sean Duffy, Timmy Farrell, Brian Dignam and Paul Hayes (goalie) in excellent form and also a dominant midfield in Harford and Malone. Kilbride then pressed home thier advantage  with a clinically taken goal by Zack McGovern and further excellent points from Mark Dempsey, Adam Malone and McGovern again they finished the half strongly.

The Second half started in a similar fashion to the first with the home side rising to the visitors challenge by cutting into their lead with 3 early points. But Kilbride lads were not going to be caught and further goals from Malone and Gavin and well taken points from Dempsey, McGovern, Cian Harford, meant they were not going to be caught.

This was a great performance from Kilbride who were also well served by Harry Keenan and Andrew McWeeney in defence and Brian Donnelly and Scott Murray in attack.
