St Colmcilles 1-9 St Vincents/Curraha 5-16

St Vincents Curraha got their u19 league off to the perfect start with a comprehensive win over St Colmcilles at a chilly Pilltown on Monday night.

The winners lead from the start and although they played into a stiff breeze in the first half they held a commanding 3-4 to 0-5 lead at the interval. The three first half goals coming Jack Byrne a Conor Moriarty penalty and a well taken shot from Nigel Hand.

With the wind at their backs in the second half St Vincents Curraha managed to tag on a further 2-12 to run out comfortable winners. In fairness to the Cilles who lost a couple players to injury during the match they never gave up and they managed to add 1-4 to their first half tally.

Although credit must go to the winners attacking strength their defence and midfield were also impressive with Niall Murphy and Ryan Hand in command at the back and Brian Joyce to the fore at centrefield.
