HL Div 3: Great effort from Kildalkey

March 20, 2017

Kildalkey's Enda Fitzgerald strikes

Kildalkey 2-10 Wolfe Tones 0-5

Kildalkey's second string hosted Wolfe Tones on St Patricks morning in this Division 3 Hurling league fixture in wet and windy conditions and kicked off their hurling year with a win.

Playing with the wind in the first half Kildalkey started brightly with Eoin Kelly hitting the net with his first touch of the ball to give his team a great start.

Francis Doran got a good point early on and the impressive Brin Kelly (Eoins brother) got a long range point along with 3 great Dan Fagan scores to keep their noses in front and Ross Flynn completed the first half scoring to leave it 1-6 to 0-2 at half time.

The Village side knew Wolfe Tones would come out in the second half all guns blazing and staunch defending from the backs was essential to the win with Steven Forde and Enda Fitzgerald playing particularly well and using all their experience to stem the Tones best efforts.

Flynn hit 3 more frees and Aaron Byas clipping over a lovely point as well. Colm Kane's first touch when introduced was a wonderful first time pull to leave the net shaking and secure the points for the blues.

This was a great team effort from Kildalkey and the mix of youth and experience created the right balance to give them the win and the 2 points
