MFC: Kelly's goals seal win for Killary

August 26, 2016

Mark Kelly - Killary Emmets

KILLARY EMMETS 2-11 KILBRIDE 2-8

TWO goals in the last six minutes from top scorer Mark Kelly helped Killary advance in the MFC at Castletown.

Kilbride had led 2-7 to 0-10 with 10 minutes remaining but they only managed a single point after that against their fast finishing opponents.

Eoin Lynch Duff narrowed the gap before Kelly pounced for his opening goal to leave his side two points clear.

Kilbride responded with a point at the other end to gain parity. Then four minutes from the finish substitute Cathal Duff intercepted a poor kick-out and set Kelly up for the winning score.

The sides finished level at 0-5 each at the end of the opening half which was played in a downpour.

Kelly pointed Killary ahead twice in the third quarter before Kilbride struck for their opening goal to go into a 1-7 to 0-7 lead.

Three further Kelly points, including one great long range effort, brought the sides back level. Kilbride then snatched a second goal to regain their three point advantage but it was Killary who finished much the stronger.
