Diarmuid Moriarty - St Vincents Curraha

St Vincents/Curraha 2-20 Drumconrath/Meath Hill 3-9

St Vincents/Curraha maintain their unbeaten run in this year's under 16 league with an eight point win over their north Meath visitors Drumconrath/Meath Hill.

In a good competitive match, St Vincents/Curraha held the upper hand throughout the hour. In fairness to the North Meath lads, they never gave up and had a decent second have return of 3-4.

The first half saw some sweeping moves from the back to front by the home side which resulted in an abundant of well taken points with a couple of goals throw in for good measure. Seven different players got on the score sheet in that first half for St Vincents/Curraha with Diarmuid Moriarty and Adam Tuite netting after some excellent passing moves by the St Vincents/Curraha attack. Other notable moments of that first half were the outstanding displays of high fielding by St Vincents/Curraha's Jack Byrne. The home side held a commanding lead at the break on a score line 2-11 to 0-6.

St Vincents/Curraha's dominance continued early in the second half and the scores kept coming with Nigel Hand, Jack Byrne (2) Eoghan Corry, Niall McLarnon and Leo Corry all notching up points. Great credit must go to Drumconrath/Meath Hill lads though, as they kept working hard throughout the field with their midfield pair in particular causing the home side some problems. They managed to penetrate the defence on a few occasions to score three excellent goals. However, St Vincents/Curraha responded well to each set back with a very lively Jack O Connor leading the attack. As well as adding a couple of points, he set up numerous attacks with some scintillating runs through the centre. Jack Byrne and Leo Corry added points at the end to secure a comfortable enough win St Vincents/Curraha.

St Vincents/Curraha had excellent performers in Andrew Moriarty, Jack Byrne, Jack O Connor, Niall Mclarnon, Adam Tuite and Leo Corry.
