HS Meath Hurling Team of the Week

August 21, 2015

Boardsmill were the big winners last weekend.

Better late than never and after much deliberation we have managed to come up with the XV that deserve to make our fourth Meath hurling championship team of the week.

Champions Kiltale remain unbeaten while Dunboyne appear to be closing the gap on the holders. Trim are into the knockout stages along with Kildalkey and Killyon while O'Mahonys and Blackhall have it all to play for in round 5.

1 Shane McGann (Kiltale): Kept a clean sheet and pointed a free from inside his own 65.

2 Ciaran O'Rourke (Trim): His workrate was central to Trim keeping a clean sheet.

3 Brian Perry (Killyon): Gave a solid display at the heart of the Killyon defence in their seven point win over Blackahll Gaels at Trim

4 Paddy Dowd (Ratoath): Rock solid in a Ratoath full back line that came under immense pressure from Gaeil Colmcille, especially in the second half.

5 Stephen Donoghue (Kiltale): The champions' most consistent defender in their win over Dunboyne

6 David Farrell (Boardsmill): Was immense at centre back; cutting out a number of attacks as they recorded an historic win.

7 Andrew Snow (Navan O'Mahonys): Caught some vital ball and set up a few scores as the town team recorded a crucial win.

8 James Kelly (Kiltale): Dunboyne had no answer to his ball carrying ability. Time and again raced through their defence and hit 1-2 as the champions remained unbeaten.

9 Shane Crosby (O'Mahonys): Complimented a brilliant work rate with three fine points as his gain gained a valuable win.

10 Neil Hackett (Dunboyne): His tally of a dozen points included four from play.

11. Thomas Leonard (Boardsmill): Tormented Kilmessan throughout as their defence could not cope with his pace, scoring a crucial 1-2.

12 John Foley (O'Mahonys): His 11-point tally from frees and play were central to O'Mahonys' vital win over Rathmolyon.

13  Ross Ryan (Kiltale): His two-goal salvo sealed Kiltale's win over Dunboyne. Displayed commendable composure in process.

14 William Harnan (Kiltale): Scored one point, worked hard and had a hand in other scores.

15. Benny Murray (Clann na nGael): The veteran rolled back the years with an excellent display scoring 1-3 as the Athboy/Rathcairn outfit almost certainly progressed to the semi-final.
