AFL1: Tones lose to O'Mahony's in Kilberry

May 28, 2015

Jake Regan - Navan O'Mahonys

O'Mahony's 2-12
Wolfe Tones 0-11

O'Mahony's emerged with the points on Wednesday evening in a competitive match played in ideal conditions in Kilberry.

A slow start by the Wolfe Tones proved to be the difference as they found themselves 1-4 to 0-0 in arrears after 17 minutes. Despite reducing the deficit to 3 points on five separate occasions, O'Mahony's kept the Tones at arm's length and when Jake Regan goaled on 51 minutes the game was put beyond doubt.

After a poor start, Tones eventually found their feet and dominated the second quarter, outscoring O'Mahony's 0-5 to 0-1 to go in at half time just one goal adrift. Cian Ward sent over three 45s while Niall McLoughlin and Niall O'Reilly added a point apiece. Half time 1-5 to 0-5.

There was little to choose between the two sides in the second half and the game was still in the melting pot before Tones were caught on a counter attack which ended with Jake Regan fisting to the net following a long delivery into the square.
