JFC B: Nobber edge out Duleek/Bellewstown

Nobber got their JFC B Championship campaign of to a winning start with this 4 point victory over their conquerors from last year at sunny Skyrne on Sunday.

Dean Halpin opened the scoring in the first minute for Nobber but the D/B response was rapid scoring 1 03 in the next 4 minutes.

Nobber showed good character and were level after 13 minutes with scores from Karl Casserly 2 another from Halpin, Brian Kelly,and Declan Shields.

No further scores came until the 25th & 27th when D/B scored 1 01 to hit the front.

Then came undoubtedly the score of the match when Gerard Cambpell found the net with with a superb shot from 30 metres. Casserly again showed his class to fire over a point in the 30th minute followed by a well taken goal in the 31st to see Nobber lead 2 07 to 2 04 at the break.

On the resumption Nobber pushed out their lead through points from David Lanney and Shields before D/B responded with minors in the 43rd and 48th minute.

Nobber were not going to be outdone at this stage and with further points from Aodhan McEntee 2 and Halpin they led 2 12 to 2 06 with 4 minutes to go.

D/B tried with all their might to breach the the Nobber defence but had to settle for 2 points for their efforts but Nobber got the win which they deserved.

Best for Nobber in a good team performance were Karl Casserly, Gerard Campbell, Gordon Weldon, Anthony Owens and Dean Halpin.
