HL: Clann see off Kilskyre

March 23, 2015

Clann Na nGaels Ciaran Fitzsimons

Clann na nGael 1-13
Kilskyre 0-8

The dismissal of Kilskyre's James Baugh early in the second half and an improved second half performance  allowed Clann na nGael to get their second win of the league in bright sunny conditions in Athboy on Sunday.

The first half was a tight affair with the teams trading scores until a Pat Shore goal put Clann na nGael ahead a lead the never relinquished .

The clann na nGael midfield of Luke Swaine and Eddie Doherty along with Darragh Brogan worked hard during the first half when Kilskyre looked the better side for long periods.
Clann na nGael had gotten on top before Baughs sending off with an increased work rate and some excellent point taking from Ciaran Fitzsimons who finished the game with nine points.

After the sending off, the ever green Benny Murray began to play more around the middle and he had a big influence on the final quarter as Clann limited their opponents to one point in the second half.

All County Hurling League Division 2B Round 3

After last week's tough game against Drumree Kilskyre were looking to change their fortune this week in Athboy. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. The first half was well contested with each score being answered at the other end of the pitch. Athboy scored an early goal which left Kilskyre chasing. After a few quick pointed frees from Tommy Shine Kilskyre were right back in it. Thomas also contributed to Kilskyre's 1sgt half tally. The two teams went in at half time with one point between them with a score line of 0-7 to 1-5 to Clann na nGeall.
Kilskyre challenge waned significantly in the second half. Tommy Shine worked tirelessly in the forwards whilst Paidrag Muldoon chased down every ball that came near him. Yet despite Thomas Short's goal line block Kilskyre found it difficult stop the flow of points coming from a Clann na nGeall that was growing in confidence. A questionable red card early on in the half didn't help things
