In pictures: another strong second half showing from Meath

Like in their opening round win over Westmeath, 'The Royals' turned on the style in the second half to over run Longford in round 2 of the O'Byrne Cup.

After a miserable day the weather cleared up to give us an ideal night for football in front of a decent crowd.

The new kids on the block, Simon Carty, Nicky Judge, Darren Brennan, David Toner, Tom McCullen and Ruairi O'Dowd more than held their own. Toner opened Meath's account while O'Dowd turned in an impressive performance and finished with four points.

Mickey Burke captained the team while Donncha Tobin came on as a blood sub for Carty wearing black and red togs. Sean Tobin's goal came just at the right time with Meath trailing 1-4 to 0-2.

The Ashbourne boys Tormey and Menton were outstanding while Jamie Queeney put in a good shift around the middle of the park. Joey Wallace was introduced in the second half to torment the visitors.

A win over DCU will set up a meeting with the 'ould enemy' Dublin.

Meath scorers: Ruairi O'Dowd 0-4, Jamie Queeney 0-3, Sean Tobin 1-0, Andy Tormey, Mark O'Sullivan, Joey Wallace Bryan Menton 0-2 each. David Bray and David Toner 0-1 each.
