MHC B: O'Kelly Lynch and Halligan inspire Tones to victory

Matthew Melady (Wolfe Tones) has Rathmolyon's Anthony Forde for company during the Minor B Hurling Championship final at Pairc Tailteann.

A brilliant second half performance that yielded twelve points to Rathmoylon's one saw Wolfe Tones take the Meath B Minor Hurling Championship title in difficult conditions at Pairc Tailteann. An outstanding contribution from Eanna O'Kelly Lynch and Caolach Halligan whick accounted for 13 points of the winners total was central to this 'Tones' win.

Rathmolyon played with a strong wind in the first half and made use of this advantage when Jack Payne and Dylan Douglas posted early points. Tones hit back with the next three scores from the very influential Eanna O'kelly Lynch, Matthew Melady and Caolach Halligan. With ten minutes remaining Ken McKenna's charges led 0-5 to 0-4 but Rathmolyon finished on a high with a James Fitzpatrick goal and a point from Dylan Douglas to go in at the break 1-5 to 0-5 in front.

There was only one team in it for the second half. Wolfe Tones with the wind totally dominated. Within ten minutes they had taken the lead with three points from O'Kelly Lynch and a Halligan brace. The winners kept piling on the pressure and were rewarded with points from Thomas O'Reilly, four great scores from O'Kelly Lynch and one from centre back Adrian Sheridan before Rathmolyon got their only score of the half from Douglas. O'Kelly Lynch and Halligan finished out the scoring as Wolfe Tones went on to record a comfortable win.

After the game Aidan Jordan presented the MHC B Cup to Wolfe Tones captain Adrian Sheridan.
