The late John Gough

Last November, John Gough, a Curraha GFC underage mentor, passed away suddenly after taking ill while attending a GAA match in which a couple of his children were playing.

John left a wife and five young children behind, the youngest been a few Months old.

A group of Johns friends have formed a ‘Headsup’ committee to organise a fundraising event for Johns family, and Curraha GAA, along with Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA, are proud to support this worthwhile event.

The event takes place on Saturday 21st  September in Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA Club, with part of the event been a charity match between many of Johns friends. ‘The Lads Vs The Other Lads’ will take place at 5pm (free entry), and we are delighted to have some Gaa legends managing both teams. The great Sean Boylan will be assisted by John McDermott and Trevor Giles for ‘The lads’ team, while The Darling of the hill, Charlie Redmond, will have Mick Deegan and Dave Synnott assisting him on ‘The other lads’ team.

During half time, a kids game, involving some of Johns kids, will also take place.

That same night, the fantastic ABBA-ESQUE will take to the stage to perform all those classic hits, followed by DJ Matt Davis.(Doors 8pm).

There is also a great auction and raffle on the night, and to check out some of the auction prizes, go to, ABBA-ESQUE, In Aid Of The John Gough Trust Fund, on Facebook.
