Gaeil Colmcille Report

Gaeil Colmcille made the trip to Kilberry on Sunday morning to face Wolfe Tones in the third round of the A-league Divison 1.

Gaeil Colmcille registered the opening score of the game on three minutes when Seamus Mattimoe pointed a free kick. That was to be the Kells men only score in the half as Wolfe Tones used the wind advantage to their Benefit and their long balls into the full forward line cause the Kells backs numerous problems. Wolfe Tones took a five point lead into half time leading 0-06 to 0-01

Kells did start the second half the stronger and points from Brian Hanlon and Oisin Reilly reduced the deficit to three points but when a Wolfe Tones free dropped short, causing confusion in Kells defence and ricocheted off one of the Kells players into the back of the net. Kells did try to rally and points from Matimoe, Liam Ferguson and substitute Martin Barrett kept the Tones at bay. But when Wolfe Tones added their second goal of the game it was curtains for the Kells men.
