FL Div 4: Gilsenan goal crucial as Brigid's make journey worthwhile

St Brigids travelled to Clonard on Sunday in the hopes of securing their first win of the year.

The day seen sunny and dry conditions that were delivering a strong wind at the same time. 

There was a nice bite to the game from the first whistle with and both teams displayed an obvious want for a win. St Brigids were first on the score board with points from Padraig Plunkett and AJ Gilsenan. Clonard responded with scores of their own, however Joe Blake and Padraig Plunkett added to the scoreboard to see the Brigids end the first half with a point lead over the home team. 

The second half seen both teams battle it out to take charge of the game and drum up scores. AJ Gilsenan ensured a well placed goal  for the Brigids after a nicely laid  off ball from Joe Blake. A good display of team work and work effort from the Ballinacree men ensured they left the pitch with their first win of the season.

The home side were slow out of the blocks and trailed 0-4 to 0-5 at the break with points from Eoin Dowdall (0-1P) Jack O Donoghue (0-1P), Niall Smullen (0-1F) and Conor L'Estrange (0-1P). However after resumption St Brigid's grabbed a goal while Clonard's Niall Smullen inspired with two points from play with Eoghan Connolly adding a fine point.
