FL Div 4: McKeon on fire as Ballivor remain unbeaten

June 20, 2018

Ballivor's Brendan McKeon

Ballivor 6-14, Moylagh 0-07

Ballivor faced Moylagh on Tuesday evening in Ballivor, with the hosts coming out convincing winners and ending Moylagh's hopes of a top 2 finish.

It was somewhat of a slow start from Ballivor, with Moylagh opening the scoring through a long range point from their lively number 6 - who popped over another 2 long range points in the first half. That was as good as it got for Moylagh as Ballivor got into their stride.

The first green flag was raised when Gannon played through Brendan McKeon who sidestepped his man and slot the ball home. This opened the floodgates and Ballivor never looked back from here. Further goals from Kevin and Brendan McKeon before the break left the half time score at 3-06 to 0-04 points.

The second half was similar to the first - with Ballivor playing very attractive attacking football. Flowing moves ended up with some tidy points from Keoghan, Gannon, Potterton, Fitzgerald and Richie Sherrock, who looked like a man with a point to prove when coming off the bench.

These flowing moves resulted in 3 more majors for Ballivor in the second half. With Brendan McKeon adding two more to his tally. The second of which was reminiscent of what we are seeing in Russia at the moment, the ball broke down on the 14, McKeon managed to dribble his way through with the ball on the ground and bury an absolute rasper off the crossbar and it bounced just over the line. The goalscoring was finished off with a great team goal from Fitzgerald as the ball was moved from Ballivor's full back line to the back of the Moylagh net in the blink of an eye.

It was a bit of a mismatch on the night, with Moylagh missing a couple of their key men, but Ballivor will be happy with their nights work as they buried their opposition.

Best on the night for Ballivor was Brendan McKeon, who notched up 4-06 while setting up other scores also. There were also an impressive performance from Leon Duignan on his first A league start.
