Curraha's Sean Keogh

Curraha 2-13 Trim 1-12

Curraha travelled to Trim on Sunday evening for this Division 2 AFL encounter and luckily the rain stayed away and it was perfect conditions for a game.

Curraha started the better and had four quick points on the board all from different players. Andrew Battersby started the spree while a point from David Coyle came either side of frees from Jack O'Connor and Sea Keogh. A free from Trim on 11 minutes had them up and running and this was cancelled out by three more individual efforts from Brian Murphy, David Toner and Sean O'Hanrahan. Trim tagged on three points of their own before O'Connor got his sides first goal of the game with a great low finish with his left foot. A free from Keogh pushed his side further in front. Trim were still in the game though and added two more points before O'Connor and Keogh cancelled these out on the stroke of half time to give Curraha a lead of 1-10 to 0-07 at the break.

Trim were unlucky not to raise the green flag from the throw up only for a fantastic save from Luke McCarthy. Points were traded with O'Connor getting his third of the game. Trim were starting to get more into the game with substitute Neil Heffernan getting involved and another save from McCarthy kept the home side out. Coyle added his second halfway through the second half and a Trim free cancelled this out. Two more points soon followed and they had it back to a four-point game but a fine score from Toner pushed his side further ahead. Just on the stroke of full time Sean Keogh put the game to bed with a fine solo goal and a late injury time consolation goal from Trim put some perspective on the scoreboard.

Trim Report

Missed Goal Chances Prove Costly For Trim !!

The Trim team constructed six clear cut goal chances in the second half of this Div 2 A football league match played in St Loman's Park on Sunday evening. Scoring only one of the six goal chances but to be fair to the Trim forwards the Curraha keeper made great saves to keep the ball out of his  teams net.  Aaron Lynch finally hit the back of the net in the sixtieth minute with a brilliant individual goal .

Curraha started the match very well and had six point on the score board by the tenth minute. Aaron Lynch got the town side on the score board in the eleventh minute. Curraha were in total control of this first half and seemed to be able to score at will. In the eighteenth minute Curraha struck a hammer blow to Trims's chances when they scored their first goal. Aaron Lynch added five more points for the Reds before half time and Brian Dowling and Mikie Cullen also chipped in with a point each before the half time whistle .

Half time score: Trim 0-8 Curraha 1-10

Trim shot of the blocks in the first few seconds of the second half , Aaron Lynch has the first goal chance but was denied by the Curraha keeper. From the kick out Alan Douglas gained possession, gave a great ball to Neil Heffernan who used his strength to pass two defenders to shoot a great shot for goal but he too was thwarted by the outstanding Curraha keeper. Aaron Lynch got the first score of the second half with a lovely point from about thirty yards out. Curraha responded with a point from the restart and then In the next fifteen minutes Trim missed three more great goal chances.
