FL Div 4: Ballivor remain unbeaten

May 20, 2018

Ballivor's Kevin McKeon

Ballivor 0-18, Clonard 1-4

Ballivor made it six from six to continue their strong start to the year with a comprehensive victory over Clonard in their 2nd home league game of the year.

The hosts started very strongly with 4 points on the board without reply aided by a slight breeze. Ballivor maintained this intensity for the first 15 minutes before getting slightly complacent for the remainder of the half.

The most notable action from the first half were two points from Kevin McKeon, one from out wide left from a free on the 45, and another from play from 30 yards out as the ball sailed over the bar with plenty to spare.

Half time score: Ballivor 0-11, Clonard 0-03.

The second half began in similar fashion to the first, with Ballivor starting strongly despite playing against breeze. Ballivor looked comfortable at all times as Clonard struggled up front to penetrate Ballivor's defence. Although the hosts did concede a cheap goal after a mistake in defence allowed Clonard's number 13 through to finish to the net to raise some question marks about the result.

Conor Smith in the Ballivor goals made two great clearances when under pressure putting his body on the line when necessary, ending up with two long spells on the ground with injury, but continued on as you would expect.

The result wasn't in doubt as Ballivor maintained their 10 point lead without really ever getting going on the day.

Best on the day for Ballivor were Kevin McKeon, Killy Canavan and the returning Sean Corrigan.

Next up for Ballivor is a tough A League Fixture away to Kilbride next Saturday at 4.30.
