Ladies: Green Stars v Royal Stars Charity Exhibition Game

May 18, 2018

Managers for the day Rory O'Connor and Sean Boylan

The long awaited inaugural Meath Ladies Green Stars v Royal Stars Charity Exhibition Game will take place in Ashbourne GAA Club on Tuesday next May 22nd. Throw in is set for 8pm.

Both teams were named and awards given out in December of 2017 at Meath Ladies Annual Awards night.

The game was due to be played in January. Cue the arrival of the 'Beast from the East', the 'Pest from the West' and various other weather phenomena and couple with that the great success of our ladies in the National Football League and you have many postponements to this game.

But we are almost there now and it promises to be a cracker of a game. All proceeds from the game are going to the Gary Kelly Cancer Foundation and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Entry to the game will be by donation to these worthy causes.

Entertainment is the name of the game for this night out. The All Star game will be preceded by Donaghmore/Ashbourne Ladies versus Charlotte James Connolly Ladies from North Carolina in the USA. This game is set for 7pm.

Former Meath Ladies and Donaghmore/Ashbourne player Caitriona O'Shaughnessy will be among the Charlotte players. Caitriona has lived in North Carolina for the last number of years. Caitriona was a member of the team that won their first ever North American

Senior Ladies Football Championship. They made history by being the first ladies football team to win this title outside of the 'BIG 4' i.e. San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago and Boston.

Both teams will have ''Celebrity'' BAINISTEOIRÍ

Team 1 is The Legends! This team will have the Royal Legend himself Sean Boylan at the helm. Sean recently helped launch the Masita Meath Ladies Championship. Sean has led many teams to glory and hopefully will be on form on Tuesday evening.

Team 2 is the Media and will be looked after by none other than Rory O'Connor of Rorys Stories fame. No doubt most people will be more than familiar with Rory and his many antics and stories on Facebook and Twitter.
