Mayo joint manager Pat Holmes believes that a good start to the National League campaign is imperative.

The Connacht side begin their campaign with an away clash against Kerry in a few weeks' time and Holmes admits that they may not have their full strength panel available to them.

Regardless, though Holmes explained to the Western People that they are looking for a fast start to the campaign next month.

"The National League is the second most important competition in the calendar and we'll be going out to win every game," said Holmes.

"In saying that, we may not have all the core panel back from injury so it will provide an opportunity to look at players who have performed well in the FBD League to see how they will perform in league football."
