Noel Connelly is hoping Mayo can get two more competitive games under their belt before they face Kerry in the first round of the Allianz League.

The Connacht champions will set up a Connacht FBD League final against old rivals Galway if they can beat Roscommon in their final group game in Castlebar next Sunday.

"We've only three weeks until we play Kerry in the league and everyone needs to be thinking about that from now on," the joint-manager said after yesterday's 0-15 to 0-6 win over IT Sligo.

"It will be a step-up when we play Roscommon next week and there will be more of the guys from last week involved in that game, but the new guys have done very well and we'll have to play some of them alongside the more experienced guys to see how they shape up against inter-county opposition.

"I'd imagine that two or three who haven't played yet will play the next day and if we're lucky enough to get through Roscommon, we'd have another game and we'd be hoping to get that extra game before we got to Kerry."
