Mayo manager James Horan is delighted with the progress being made by former rugby international Gavin Duffy.

The former Connacht and Ireland rugby star impressed for his adopted club Salthill-Knocknacarra in the Galway SFC at the weekend and could be in line to make his senior intercounty debut for the holders against the Tribesmen in the 2014 Connacht SFC final at MacHale Park on Sunday week:

"It's just football he needs," Horan is quoted in The Irish Examiner. "He needs as much football as he can get. He's making great progress.

"We had someone looking at him. He played midfield and played very well. He was very strong and competitive in the middle and they had a two-point win.

"He had big part to play in that so he's making progress for sure."

The provincial final is twelve days away and Horan will look at Duffy in a series of in-house A v B games before deciding whether or not to call upon the 32-year-old for the provincial showcase.
