Mayo came from behind to book their place in this year's Connacht MFC final with two late goals in a dramatic finish against Galway in Tuam Stadium this evening.

John Donnellan's Galway had one foot in the final when Dylan Wall goaled but Liam Byrne and Gary Walshe replied for the visitors they took the lead for the first time in the 59th minute.

The hosts dominated the first-half proceedings and an Eoin Finnerty point parachuted them into an 0-8 to 0-2 lead approaching the halfway stage.

But the visitors were thrown a lifeline when awarded a penalty that Cian Hanley converted to leave them trailing by just three points at the break.

The second-half was a much more evenly contested affair and Mayo were handed the initiative when Galway were reduced to 14 men with seven minutes to go.

The two goals from Byrne and Walshe swung the tie in their favour and they will take on the winners of the second semi-final between Roscommon and Leitrim on Sunday, July 13th at Castlebar.
