SF challenge: Mayo too strong for disappointing Dubs

May 22, 2010
Mayo continued their impressive senior football challenge form when they had eight points to spare over an understrength Dublin in Hollymount last night.

Mayo 1-19
Dublin 0-14

John O'Mahony's charges, who have also defeated Cavan and Westmeath in the past week, dominated from start to finish with team captain Trevor Mortimer's 21st minute goal paving the way for a comfortable victory.

The hosts led at half-time by 1-9 to 0-6 with Conor Mortimer kicking four points (three from frees) and Alan Freeman landing three fine scores from play. Mayo remained in the driving seat in the second half and but for late scores from Conal Keaney, Alan Hubbard and Kevin McManamon, Dublin would have been beaten by more.

The Dubs, for whom Rory O'Carroll, Ross McConnell and Eamonn Fennell impressed, are expected to field a completely different team when they face Westmeath in another challenge match at Glasnevin today.
