O'Mahony anticipates 'difficult' game

Mayo manager John O'Mahony
John O'Mahony says that Mayo will be taking nothing for granted ahead of their All-Ireland SFC quarter-final meeting with either Limerick or Meath next Sunday week. The Mayo manager has dismissed any notions that his side have been handed an easier draw than any of the other provincial winners in the last eight. "The reason we won the Connacht final is because we stayed focused on what we could do," explained O'Mahony. "Are people forgetting that Limerick nearly pushed Cork over the cliff in the Munster final? And Meath ran Dublin to two points in Leinster. "It's amazing how perceptions change but reality stays the same. I've never been involved in any easy quarter-final in my time in football. Plus, whoever wins next weekend between Limerick and Meath will have a huge momentum for the following week." O'Mahony was on his way back home from Dr Hyde Park after watching Mayo defeat Roscommon in the ESB Connacht MFC final last Sunday when word of his side's draw came through. "I don't get excited about draws," O'Mahony insisted. "You take what you get and you move on. When you get to the last eight, every draw is difficult. There seems to be a perception out there that our draw is okay, but you could make the arguments about the form of Kerry, Kildare or Donegal too. "I think the tie of the round is Kerry against Dublin. I think for the nostalgia and glamour it's the game of the weekend and it will either kill or cure Kerry. I wouldn't write them off though. "We'll keep preparing anyway. We covered all the qualifier games last weekend and now we'll get a chance to see Limerick and Meath play next Saturday," he added.
