U21s at full strength for provincial final

April 02, 2009
Mayo will select from practically a full squad for Saturday's Connacht U21 FC final against Sligo at Markievicz Park. Managed by the triumvirate of Pat Holmes, Noel Connelly and Michael Collins, Mayo are gunning for a fourth successive provincial crown at this level and they go into the final as red-hot favourites having already disposed of the considerable threats of Galway and Roscommon. County seniors Tom Parsons, Aidan O'Shea, Kevin McLoughlin and Mikey Sweeney all came through the NFL win in Tuam unscathed and will be pivotal this weekend as Mayo bid to retain the Connacht title. Achill's Michael Gallagher is ruled out with a chipped bone in his ankle but otherwise the champions have everybody at their disposal. This is the first meeting of these counties at this level since 2001.
