Mayo XV take on Erris this Sunday

October 23, 2008
An experimental Mayo side will travel to Bangor this Sunday to take on an Erris selection in a challenge game being played in aid of the Marie Carolan Fund. Jointly-managed by Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly, the Erris side will be made up from four clubs in the Barony area. Players will be chosen from Ballycroy, Belmullet, Cill Chomain and Kiltane to take on John O'Mahony's outfit. Meanwhile, O'Mahony has told local media that his management will be using this game as an opportunity for trials to have a look at some of the players that have been knocking on the door to make the break through to the senior team. "Anyone who comes along will be able to see some of the guys who have caught our eye in the club championship and are now staking a claim for a place in the panel," O'Mahony told the Mayo News newspaper this week. "We're using it as a trial game." The game between Mayo and Erris takes place on Sunday, October 26, with a throw-in time of 1.30pm scheduled at Bangor.
