Mayo produced a strong second-half performance to see off Roscommon by 0-15 to 0-9 at MacHale Park for their third win in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League.

Kevin McStay’s charges had led by the odd point in 13 at the end of the first-half and hit the ground running after the change of ends by sending over seven unaswered.

Ryan O’Donoghue (3), Enda Hession and Donnacha McHugh (2) were among the scorers as the holders surged eight clear in this derby before Conor Cox stopped the rot for the Rossies on 56 minutes.

Diarmuid Murtagh’s free made it a six-point game, but the hosts saw out the win in comfort via points from O’Donoghue and veteran Cillian O’Connor in the closing stages.
