ST FECHINS 0-15

YOUNG IRELANDS 2-8

Young Irelands were relegated back down to the Junior Championship for next season after losing by a single point to St Fechins in the play-off final on Friday evening.

In a tense battle throughout the hour, it was the Termonfeckin side who claimed victory with Ronan Holcroft once again the scoring hero as he finished with eight points.

The Louth player was instrumental in the first half as his side kicked six points but it was the Young Irelands who went in at the break with a 1-4 to 0-6 lead thanks to a Johnny Breen goal.

The Fechins upped their game at the start of the second half and seemed to be in control. However, Dean Maguire bagged a second goal for the Dundalk side to set up a tense finale, but it wasn't enough as the Termonfeckin men held out for victory.
