Paul Callan Lannleire has the beating of Glen Emmets Sean Byrne (Glen Emmets) in the Louth JFC in the Gaelic Grounds Drogheda

GLEN EMMETS 0-7

LANNLEIRE 0-6

Glen Emmets set up a meeting with Glyde Rangers in the Louth Junior Championship Final after edging past Lannleire in Saturday afternoon's replay.

James Butler was the hero for the Emmets in the drawn game when he landed a late equaliser and on this occasion he completed the job by sending over the winner from a free three minutes from time.

The poor conditions made it difficult for both teams in Stabannon but despite the football not being from the top drawer, the close nature of the contest kept the interest alive throughout.

Lannleire went into the game without three key players in their starting line-up after Niall Lennon, Colin Murphy and Bob Murphy were all injured during Wednesday night's promotion/relegation play-off defeat.

As a result they brought back Carlos Lambe into the full-forward line despite him not having played this year, while Justin McCarville was also came back after an absence to take his place on the bench.

Although it was the Emmets who opened the scoring through James Butler, the Dunleer side soon found their rhythm and two points each from Paul Callan and Alan Murphy had them leading by 0-4 to 0-1 after 19 minutes.

The Emmets rallied in the closing stages and points from Ian Cusack and Butler either side of a Murphy free cut the gap to 0-5 to 0-3 at half time.

The Tullyallen outfit continued to hold the upper hand at the start of the second half and with Butler and Andrew Mooney on target the game was level after 42 minutes.

Just before the 20 minute mark Ronan Grufferty pointed a free to put the Emmets 0-6 to 0-5 ahead only for Lannleire hit back with a point from Brendan McEvoy on 54 minutes.

With the game in the balance it was Butler who proved to be the match-winner as he fired over from a free to send his team into the final.
