Fennell predicts tight championship

Louth's Shane Fennell
Knockbridge forward Shane Fennell expects the 2014 Louth SHC to be the most competitive in years.

The villagers have been beaten in the last two county finals by Pearse Og and Fennell is bracing himself for another tough campaign.

"The last two years have been difficult for us," he concedes in The Dundalk Democrat. "That will always be the case when you lose two county finals.

"But the only thing we can worry about is trying to improve and to make up that gap because you can't concentrate on defeats. I really think that this is going to be the most competitive championship we have had for a long time.

"All of the teams in it are well fit to match each other and more on any given day and that is exciting.

"We have always taken each game as it comes, never concentrating on anything other than that.

"We have Mattock Rangers in the first round and they have already proven how strong they are this year with their large representation on the county panel and, once more, we will not be looking past them."
