Geraldines club notes

April 15, 2019

Our senior men and women were out on Sunday. Eamonns men continued their winning streak with a win over Clan na Gael on a scoreline of 4.14 – 0.8; another great performance by our men.  Our ladies recorded a convincing win against Newtown Blues by 2.14 – 1.4, well done all involved.

Our U8 Boys had an incredible day on Sunday at Croke Parks ‘Play and Stay Experience 2019’. This event is run by Leinster GAA and a great memory making day for our players. The U8 Management would like to commend the boys on their attitude, commitment and team spirit on the day; they made their coaches, parents and Geraldines GFC very proud.  We hope to see some of these boys in Croker in years to come!!

Activity within our juvenile section has been heating up this week. Our 16 boys played Clan na Gael and came out on top 3.13 – 1.9.  Well done lads. Our U14 girls played their first league match on Monday, with a real end to end performance, St Pats would win the game 3.6-5.6; their league continues on Monday nights. Our U16 girls had a good win against Cooley on Wednesday night. Our u10 boys had a great turn out this week and gave strong performances against the Sean O’Mahonys and St. Pats. Louth GAA ran an All County Blitz on Friday night in Darver; 22 U11 Boys gave us 2 teams and all boys showed great team spirit and dedication. Our u14 boys played Newtown Blues on Wednesday and came out on top.  They also played and beat St Fechins in the Feile Semi Final by 3.12 – 2.4.  The final is on Monday night in Darver against Oliver Plunkets. Please get out and support the boys.

Well done to our 4 u16 girls who were on the winning Louth squad who defeated Kilkenny.

Our schools programme has now come to end.  In our first year, we provided 24 weeks of coaching within 3 schools, coached 240 children, had 16 dedicated volunteer coaches and gave 480 minutes of coaching to each child.  We are ONE CLUB and ONE COMMUNITY.  Thank you to our sponsors Frank Lynch & Co, and to Frank Lynch himself who came to visit St Oliver’s on Friday to show the children his All Ireland medal.  We hope the children were inspired and might have their own winner’s medal one day!

Bookings are now being take on the Kelloggs GAA Cul Camps; please book early to avoid disappointment. Gers dates are Monday 01 July – Friday 05 July.

No jackpot winner this week; our jackpot now stands at €3,400.00.  Thank you to those who continue to support The Gers; we continue to build and develop on all our facilities with this income to make sure we can continue to provide a great hub within our Parish.

Please continue to follow flashback Friday on our social media platforms to see what trip down memory lane we take.
