Managers to put friendship aside on Sunday

Mullinalaghta St Columba's manager Mickey Graham and Abbeylara counterpart Danny Brady will have to put their friendship aside on Sunday afternoon.

The Cavan natives have had plenty of battles on the field down through the years and over time they have become good friends, but for this weekend's final, they will go head to head once again.

This is a repeat of last year's decider which saw Mullinalaghta come out on top as Abbeylara look to end a losing streak in the last two county finals.

"I actually get on very well with Danny; he's a good fella and has done a fine job with Abbeylara. Down through the years there has been a good mutual respect there," Graham told the Longford Leader.

"In his first year as the Abbeylara manager and getting them to a county final is a great achievement. Now, that they are in it, it's all about 60 minutes and on the day.

"I think they are a better team than last season. They are now back in a county final for the third year in a row and that is something else."
