McGivney wins top award

Mullinalaghta St Columba's forward James McGivney has been named the 2016 Senior Player of the Year.

McGivney was presented with his award at the Longford GAA Awards function in the Longford Arms Hotel last Saturday night.

The Mullinalaghta forward was in outstanding form as the club won their first county title in over 60 years and then impressed in the Leinster club before losing out to eventual winners St Vincent's at the semi-final stage.

Meanwhile, former St Mary's Granard footballer Rogie Martin was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Intermediate Player of the Year went to St Brigid's Killashee Willie Skelly and the Junior Player of the Year went to Killoe's Ciaran Keogh.

Hurler of the Year went to Wolfe Tones Seamus Hannon and Ladies Footballer of the Year is Jacinta Brady from the Killoe club.
