Emmet Og club notes

October 17, 2016

After many years of trying our junior team finally won what is now the intermediate B championship on Sunday last with a fine win over Ardagh Moydow on a score of 1-10 to 2-2. In a game that was played in testing weather conditions our lads gave it all and despite an early goal against us we were dominant throughout. Aaron Clyne was awarded the man of the match award but we had fine performances throughout the team form Stephen Coy in goals right to our full forward and goal scorer Bernard O Connor. Well done to all involved, particularly managers Jason Tully and John Reilly. Thanks to all our junior panel for their commitment all year. As the junior season ends we can reflect happily on it with the championship, division 3 and Gilmore cup trophy's in our cabinet. Indeed the only team to beat us all year were Ardagh Moydow in the final game of the Reserve Division 3 league and the final of that competition. Well done to all involved.

Congratulations to Saint Columbas on their senior county final win on Sunday. Please God they can push on in Leinster now.

Hearty congratulations to Victor Connell who was awarded as the Longford Person of the year on Friday night last. Victor is an inspiration to people near and fay for his bravery and commitment to obtain a better life for himself and was certainly a worthy winner of this award.

Our lotto draw took place on Sunday night in the Olde Forge and the numbers drawn were 2, 5, 8 and 13. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Margaret McCormack, Mary Begley, Ann Murray, Sharon and May Muldoon, C/O Ann Murray and finally Seamus Sullivan, Street. Bernie Brady took this weeks sellers prize.

Finally this week we offer our sincerest condolences to the McCarthy family Farragh on their bereavement last week.
