Colleges: North Leinster title for Dunshaughlin CC

Dunshaughlin Community School claimed the North Leinster Post Primary Schools Senior C Football Championship title with a narrow win over Ballymahon Vocational School on the astro pitch at St Lomans GAA club Mullingar.

Dunshuaghlin were first on the scoreboard with a fine point from Frankie Carty. The Longford school however dominated the next 15 minutes and were rewarded with four points through Conor Dillon, Tommy Lennon (2) and Thomas McGann. Ballymahon held a 0-5 to 0-2 lead on the 20th minute before Cian Gallogly got in for the games opening goal to level matters. Ballymahon outscored Dunshaughlin 0-3 to 0-2 in the remaining 10 minutes to go in at the break ahead by the minimum 0-8 to 1-4.

That lead was extended with two quick second half points for Ballymahon courtesy of Brendan Wallace and Lennon. Man of the Match Dara Campion had the sides level on the 8th minute with his teams second goal. With ten minutes remaining Ballymahon held a one point lead. Substitute Neill Byrne levelled the game and Campion added two more points to swing the game in favour of the Meath school.

After the game Dunshaughlin captain Tommy Kinsella was presented with the North Leinster Post Primary Schools Senior C Football Championship Shield.
