Emmet Og club notes

July 13, 2015

This is the week in which the real business of the season starts when the Longford Senior Football Championship commences. Emmet  Og sets out on their Championship journey in Maguire Park, Ballinalee on Friday evening when we take on Edgeworthstown in the first round at 7.45pm. This is what we have been training for and committed to for the past six months. Hopefully our efforts will pay off and we put up a good performance against a very good Mostrim side. We ask that all our supporters be in Maguire Park to encourage and support our team.

On the playing fields our Division 3 team had a good win over Colmcille at Magee Park on Monday last. Even though we let a substantial half-time lead slip we held on to record a 3-10 to 2-10 victory.  Our Senior 'B' team were less fortunate when losing out to Abbeylara in the Senior 'B' Championship Final played at Divine Park last Friday. This was a good game of football but Killoe were under pressure for most of the game with Abbeylara showing a bit more hunger and determination to win out in the end by 3 points - 2-13 to 0-16. Congratulations to Abbeylara. Thanks to the Killoe players for there efforts and also to the Management team of Gerry Carberry, John McCormack, Jimmy McCormack and Mark Mimnagh.

Our County Senior Senior Team had a disappointing end to their All Ireland Qualifier campaign when going down to a stronger and much more experienced Kildare side in wet and windy conditions at Cusack Park Mullingar. Nevertheless we say well done to Longford - progress has been made - lets hope in continues. Our County Minor team suffered a similar fate at the hands of Kildare in Croke Park on Sunday. Again Kildare were  stronger and more potent but Longford gave of their best and can be pleased with their efforts. It's possible that these two teams may meet again later in the All Ireland Series.

Our Lotto Draw took place in The Olde Forge on Sunday night for a Jackpot of €4,500. The numbers drawn were: 9,19,20,22.  There was no Jackpot winner. €20 winners were: Cody Killane, Clonee. Aoife Lee, Killoe. Patsy Fox, Esker. Eamonn Reynolds, C/o Doyle's Pub, Longford. Marian Lynch, Lettergunnell. Sellers Prize: Gerry Rowley, Knockloughlin. Next week's Jackpot will be €4,600 and the draw will be held in Beglys's Pub with Berney Brady's Team on duty. Discounted bulk Lotto is available from any Club member: €100 for 1 year. €50 for 6 months. €25 for 3 months. You can also play our Lotto on line by logging on to our website at www.killoegaa.ie

Emmet Og Club wish to extend its condolences to the Bratten Family, Kiltyreher on the sad passing Annita's father James Farrell, Kilrooskey, Roscommon. May He Rest in Peace.
